The Story
I'm thrilled to introduce the first official SWORKSDESIGN collab! Working with Danghyra, a ceramic artist with over 30 years of experience, to hand make my cup and saucer set design in Venice, Italy.
This release is highly limited with only 5-10pcs of each color.
This was something I wanted to do for a while now but the project needed purpose. Like a blank canvas, it takes time to fill and inspiration can be elusive. With each brush stroke or, in my case, mouse clicks in CAD, there are defining moments which cement those ideas until the painting is complete.
At first glance, the flamboyant saucer demands your attention. It's a play on fine-dining serviceware which often seems excessive but when paired thoughtfully, conveys a larger story. Taking a closer look, the saucer features the same Fibonacci spiral hole pattern used throughout my Billet Baskets.
When using the cup and saucer, you'll be reminded of the Billet Basket with liquid flowing from each hole. This release commemorates the success of the Billet Baskets and highlights the incredible variety currently offered - over 50 different sizes and styles!
The cup itself holds 70mL and stands only 35mm tall, a size that may particularly delight CT2 users who have limited cup options. This size choice is a nod to the 49mm group and the CT2 user base, whose demand for quality accessories has significantly influenced the expansion of my product offerings this year.
The growing popularity of small baskets ultimately led to my latest creations: unconventional baskets and 49mm group head conversion kits.
I discovered Danghyra in 2018 when I took a trip to Italy and visited Venice. Their boutique, tucked away in a maze of alleys, caught my eye, showcasing vibrant ceramic homewares adorned with precious metals. Seeing those pieces on display during that trip has stuck with me. Six years later, I am excited and grateful to have experienced the defining moments to create these pieces with a meaningful story and purpose.
