Are your spent coffee pucks wet, messy and muddy?
Do your pucks look like the last three photos? Do you want them solid and dry?
A spacer kit for the Decent espresso machine moves the shower screen deeper into the basket.
Lowering the shower screen from the water distribution block dampens the impulses from the vibration pump. Decreasing the headspace keeps the coffee puck compact and DRY!
With the puck compacted, the water jets won't be able to dig holes through your coffee. Extraction quality and repeatability will be increased as well as mouthfeel.
Each kit includes the following:
1x Outer Spacer with Silicone O-Ring
1x Inner Spacer
1x Longer Screw
2x 0.2mm Shims
2x 0.5mm Shims
1x Spare Silicone O-Ring
All parts aside from the silicone o-rings are stainless steel.
The photo below shows how it is installed. The inner and outer spacers go in between the brass group head and shower screen. The two different thickness of shims in the photo are for reference and are optional. The shims are used to adjust the curvature or flatness of the screen.
Shower screens are available to pair with your spacer.
The 52mm size will use a CI35WM screen from IMS.
The 55mm will use a GA35WM screen from IMS.
Spacer kits now come in the standard 52mm size as well as a larger 55mm size. The increased diameter will move the wall away from the outer most holes on the shower screen - improving local flow dynamics. The increase also removes 30% of material - reducing heat soak to speed up the group head heating. The difference can be seen in the second photo - 52mm on top and 55mm on the bottom.
I have added an option for V1.0 machines. These were the first batch of Decent machines ever made which had even more headspace. That makes it even more important to use a spacer kit.
